Revolutionizing Vertical Farming with Modularity

On this site, we’ve highlighted key modules and components of our farm’s complex design. The farm consists of around seven modules, and here, we’ve listed the most essential ones.

The Tray Storage (6)
In the six-tray storage system, trays holding the plants are securely stored. Each tray has a rolling surface, allowing the lift system to remove them fully automatically
Roll-Rods(36)
To achieve the perfect farm design, we developed many custom parts. It took 104 prototypes to refine the farm into its current form. One particularly complex component is a rod with multiple small wheels mounted on it. To ensure smooth movement, we cut and inserted 144 small aluminum pieces into the holes. At the bottom, a LED clip holds the LEDs, which are later glued on. This part highlights the intricacy of our engineering.

The Lift System
Our unique lift system utilizes a CoreXY mechanism, driven by two NEMA-23 stepper motors for enhanced control and stability. The entire lift moves along the Y-axis (up and down), while a shuttle on the X-axis manages the automated insertion and removal of trays.
Our Custom PCB
We’ve developed a custom ESP32 PCB to optimize farm control. It manages lighting, watering, and harvest/seeding mechanisms, while also communicating with TB6600 drivers to control the NEMA-23 stepper motors powering the lift system.
